"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
OUR TIMES ARE IN YOUR HANDS
When one of my best friends called, I knew by the sound of her voice that something was wrong. Two of her brothers had died in the past two months, and I was hoping no one else in her family had died. Sad to say, the death of one of her sisters had occurred that morning. After talking to my friend, I started counting the number of people whom I knew who had died during the year. When I reached fourteen, I stopped counting because I didn't want to feel the pain. Some of these people had been dear friends, and some of them had suddenly died. As I thought about death, the song, "God is Sovereign" by Daryl Coley came to mind. One of the lines says, "God can do whatever He wants, whenever He Wants." Yes, I must conclude that God is in control and in His infinite wisdom, He takes the most challenging circumstances and uses them for good. As I further reflected on death, I thought about one of my favorite poems, "The Weaver" which shows us that life is mixture of light and dark. What we deem as the dark side is what God will one day explain to us. In the meantime, we pray to accept it because God is sovereign and will work everything together for our good. The Weaver My life is just a weaving between my Lord and me, I cannot choose the colors He worketh steadily. Oft times He weaveth sorrow And I, in foolish pride forget He sees the upper and I, the underside. Not till the loom is silent and the shutters cease to fly Shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reasons why. The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver's skillful hand As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned. -Florence May Alt
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we know your ways are perfect. Help us, please, to learn how to handle life's trials. We know you have an eternal purpose; teach us how to trust that purpose.
